Watershed Studios was founded in 2018 in a set of converted stone cottages on the Connemara coastline, half an hour west of Galway city. What began as a handful of studios and a shared kitchen has grown into a year-round programme hosting painters, sculptors, photographers, installation artists, and writers from across Europe and beyond.
Over 300 artists and writers have stayed here. The programme is deliberately self-directed: no set curriculum and no imposed outcome, because the work being made deserves quiet, room, and time.
This gallery is the natural extension of that programme. Every work you see here was made by a Watershed artist, whether during their stay on the coast or in the years since, and every purchase supports the running of the studios.
The programme
The residency is self-directed. Each resident receives private studio space, on-site accommodation, and access to shared workshop facilities, the pace and shape of the work is theirs.
Selection
We accept applications on a rolling basis and also invite past artists, writers, and alumni to list new work through the gallery.
Gallery
Approved artists list and sell their own work through the Watershed online gallery, with shipping direct from the studio.
